QuickBooks

On the roadmap · Accounting & migration

QuickBooks is on the roadmap. Until then, upload or forward it and Fiona books it.

What happens today

Not connected by API yet, and you don't need it to switch. Export your trial balance, general ledger and chart of accounts from QuickBooks and Fiona sets your opening balances from them, then ties her balance sheet back to your last QuickBooks trial balance so you can prove nothing moved.

Why it matters to your books

Switching accounting systems fails in exactly one way: the new system's balance sheet doesn't agree with the old one, and nobody notices for a year. The trial balance at your cutover date is the artifact that prevents it.

What Fiona reads

How to set it up

  1. Reports → Trial Balance → set the date to your cutover → export
  2. Reports → General Ledger → the full current year → export
  3. Drop both into Fiona; she maps accounts and sets opening balances

Questions people actually ask

Do I need to import years of QuickBooks history?

Usually not. You need the trial balance at your cutover date — that single report carries every prior year in it. History is nice for comparatives, not required for correct books.

Can I run both for a month?

Yes, and it's the safest way. Keep QuickBooks open through your first month-end in Fiona and compare the two balance sheets before you cancel.

What if my bookkeeper won't hand anything over?

You're entitled to your own financial records. Fiona generates the request email for you, and a trial balance plus twelve months of bank statements is enough to rebuild from scratch if it comes to that.
