Mercury
Connects · Banks & cards
Fiona connects to Mercury and syncs it automatically.
What happens today
Paste a Mercury API token and Fiona pulls every account — checking, savings and card — on a schedule, drafts the double entry for each transaction, and ties your cash balance to Mercury's live balance.
Why it matters to your books
A bank feed is the spine of a set of books. With it, categorization is continuous and the ledger can be checked against a number the bank publishes; without it, everything is a monthly catch-up against a PDF.
What syncs
- Checking and savings transactions
- Credit card charges and payoffs
- Live account balances (the tie-out)
- Account names and types
How to set it up
- Mercury → Settings → API tokens → create a read-only token
- Paste it into Connect → Mercury
- The first sync pulls up to a year of history as drafts
Questions people actually ask
Does Fiona move money in my Mercury account?
No. The token is read-only and Fiona never holds, moves or transmits money. She reads transactions and drafts bookkeeping entries you approve.
How far back does the first sync go?
Up to a year of history. If your account is older, Fiona derives an opening balance so the ledger still agrees with your current Mercury balance.
What if I have several Mercury accounts?
One token covers the whole account. Each sub-account is kept as its own ledger account, so a card payoff reads as an internal transfer, not an expense.
